To create a sustainable, harmonious society, we need to understand our interconnectedness with everything around us, and that our choices have an immeasurable ripple effect. We often underestimate our power and impact on the world.
What kind of world do you want?
Most of us wish for a world that respects human and animal rights, as well as environmental protection. A world without the current suffering caused by inequality, poverty, greed, and selfishness, where everyone has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
The majority of us long for peace and harmony, particularly for future generations. The well-being of our species is closely tied to our ability to build strong social connections. It is becoming increasingly clear that we need to enhance our social awareness and broaden our capacity for empathy beyond our immediate circles.
Empathy is a form of intelligence that our world direly needs. Our more primitive biological instincts have evolved at a slower pace than the growth of technology and civilization. We need education, economic, and political systems that give self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and social consciousness the same priority as intellectualism.
When we have the ability to consciously observe ourselves and practice self-awareness, as well as to transcend our primal instincts toward greed, selfishness, tribalism, or territorialism, why would we not use this superpower to help save our species?
The small choices we make daily, both in public and private, matter more than we know.
We are all interconnected, and ultimately, what we do to others, we do to ourselves. Our thoughts, words, and actions determine the state we live in and what we attract into our lives.
