Both leadership and the teams they lead should consist of individuals diverse in race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, political beliefs, worldview, education, socioeconomic status, personality, physical and intellectual abilities, neurodivergence, mental health, and much more—this will create a team that more accurately represents the population.

For equal opportunity to be available to all individuals, additional support or accommodation may be critical for those who have experienced forms of oppression, such as discrimination, marginalization, and segregation in our governing institutions and systems.

In order to thrive together, we should celebrate our differences. Each of us is a unique piece of the puzzle.
